When counting crochet stitches, especially in amigurumi, you’ll often hear about counting the "V's." Each crochet stitch forms a V-shape when viewed from the top. These V's represent individual stitches, and learning to recognize them is key to accurate stitch counting.

How It Works

🖖 Each V is One Stitch: When you look at the top of your crochet work, you’ll see a series of V-shaped loops. Each V represents one stitch, and both legs of the V are part of the same stitch.

🔄️ Counting the V's: To count your stitches, simply count each V from the beginning to the end of the row or round. This helps ensure you have the correct number of stitches as specified in your pattern.

⭕ Working in Rounds: In amigurumi, you often work in continuous rounds. You’ll need to count each V around the circle to make sure you haven’t missed or added any stitches along the way.
