Making the Body (Part 1 of 7)

MAKING THE BODY

👉 Start with a Magic Ring
Begin by creating a magic ring. This is the foundation for Snuffle’s body and allows you to start crocheting in a tight, circular shape.

Row 1
Crochet 8 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into the magic ring:

Insert your hook into the ring, yarn over, and pull up a loop.
Yarn over again and pull through both loops on your hook to complete one Sc. Repeat this 8 times.
Pull the loose end of the magic ring to close it tightly.

Row 2
Increase (Inc) in every stitch around:

Work 2 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into each of the 8 stitches from Row 1.
At the end of this row, you’ll have 16 stitches.

Row 3
Alternate between Single Crochet (Sc) and an Increase (Inc):

Sc in the first stitch, then Inc in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern around.
You’ll now have 24 stitches.

Row 4
Alternate between two Single Crochets (2 Sc) and an Increase (Inc):

Sc in the first stitch, Sc in the second stitch, then Inc in the third stitch. Repeat this pattern around.
You’ll now have 32 stitches.

Rows 5–12
Single Crochet (Sc) around:
Work one Sc into each stitch for a total of 32 stitches per row.
This forms the main shape of Snuffle’s body. Use a stitch marker to keep track of where each row begins.

Place the Eyes
After completing Row 8, attach safety eyes between Rows 8 and 9:

Position the eyes approximately 4 stitches apart for a balanced and cute look.

Row 13
Begin decreasing by alternating two Single Crochets (2 Sc) and a Decrease (Dec):

Sc in the first stitch, Sc in the second stitch, then Dec in the third and fourth stitches. Repeat this pattern around.
You’ll now have 24 stitches.

Row 14
Continue decreasing by alternating one Single Crochet (Sc) and a Decrease (Dec):

Sc in the first stitch, then Dec in the next two stitches. Repeat this pattern around.
You’ll now have 16 stitches.

Row 15
Decrease (Dec) in every stitch around:

Work a Dec in each stitch to reduce the total to 8 stitches.

Row 16
Continue decreasing until the opening is small enough to close completely:

Once it’s small, fasten off (FO) and sew the opening shut using the yarn tail and a yarn needle.

Making the Ears (Part 2 of 7)

MAKING THE EARS

You’ll need to make two ears for Snuffle.

👉 Start with a Chain
Create a foundation chain of 7 stitches:

Make a slipknot on your hook, then yarn over and pull through the loop on your hook 7 times. Each pull creates one chain stitch.

Row 1
Single Crochet (Sc):
Work 6 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches along the chain, starting in the second chain from the hook.

Row 2
Single Crochet (Sc) and Decrease (Dec):

Work 3 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches, one in each of the first 3 stitches.
In the last stitch, work a Decrease (Dec).
You’ll now have 4 stitches in this row.

Row 3
Single Crochet (Sc) and Decrease (Dec):

Work 3 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches
In the last 2 stitches, work a Decrease (Dec).
You’ll now have 4 stitches in this row.

Row 4
Single Crochet (Sc) and Decrease (Dec):

Work 2 Single Crochet (Sc) in the last 2 stitches.
In the last stitch, work a Decrease (Dec).
You’ll now have 3 stitches in this row.

Row 5
Single Crochet (Sc) and Decrease (Dec):

Work 1 Single Crochet (Sc) into the first stitch
Work a Decrease (Dec) into the last 2 stiches.

Row 6
Decrease (Dec)

Fasten Off (FO)
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail (about 6–8 inches) for sewing.
Pull the yarn through the loop on your hook to secure it.

Making the Feet (Part 3 of 7)

MAKING THE FEET

You’ll need to make two feet for Snuffle.

👉 Start with a Magic Ring
Create a magic ring as the base for the foot.

Row 1
Crochet 6 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into the magic ring:

Insert your hook into the ring, yarn over, and pull up a loop.

Yarn over again and pull through both loops on the hook to complete one Sc. Repeat this 6 times.

Pull the loose end of the ring to close it tightly.

Row 2
Increase (Inc) in every stitch around:

Work 2 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into each of the 6 stitches from Row 1.

At the end of this row, you’ll have 12 stitches.

Row 3
Single Crochet (Sc) around:
Work one Sc into each stitch for a total of 12 stitches.

This row helps maintain the round shape of the foot.

Drawstring Cinching
After completing Row 3, thread the long yarn tail onto a yarn needle:

Weave the needle through each of the stitches in the final row.

Pull the yarn tightly to close the opening, creating a rounded foot.

Fasten Off (FO)
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail (about 6–8 inches).

This will be used later to sew the feet securely to Snuffle’s body.

Making the Tail (Part 4 of 7)

MAKING THE TAIL

👉 Start with a Chain
Begin by creating a foundation chain of 12 stitches:

Make a slipknot on your hook and yarn over.

Pull the yarn through the loop on your hook, repeating this motion 12 times to create the chain.

This chain will serve as the base for Snuffle’s curly tail.

Row 1
Crochet 2 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into each chain stitch:

Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 2 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches into each chain.

Insert your hook into the chain, yarn over, and pull up a loop.

Yarn over again and pull through both loops on your hook to complete one Sc. Repeat this process twice in the same chain before moving to the next.

Continue this pattern for all the chains. By the end of the row, you’ll have 24 stitches, and the tail will naturally begin to curl into a spiral.

Add a Drawstring
To enhance the curliness:

Thread a separate piece of yarn (or the tail from your work) through the stitches along the length of the chain.

Use a yarn needle for this step, weaving the drawstring in and out of the stitches.
Gently pull the drawstring to tighten the curl, adjusting until the tail has the desired amount of spiraling.

Fasten Off (FO)
Once the tail is curled to your satisfaction, fasten off by cutting the yarn, leaving a long tail (about 6–8 inches).

Pull the yarn through the loop on your hook to secure it.

The long tail will be used to sew the tail securely to Snuffle’s body.

Making the Nose (Part 5 of 7)

MAKING THE NOSE

👉 Start with a Chain

Create a foundation chain of 5 stitches:

Row 1
Single Crochet (Sc) across the chain:

Starting in the second chain from the hook, work 4 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches, one in each chain space.
This forms the first side of the nose.

Chain 1 and Turn to Work the Other Side.

Rotate your work to crochet along the underside of the foundation chain.

Row 2
Work in the round:

Single Crochet (Sc) 4 stitches evenly along the underside of the chain, completing the loop.

Continue crocheting in a circular pattern around the piece, adding approximately 10 Single Crochet (Sc) stitches as you work to give the nose its rounded, 3D shape.

Add the Nostrils
Using black thread or yarn, embroider two vertical nostrils on the nose:

Position the nostrils approximately 2 stitches apart to ensure they look balanced.

Fasten Off (FO)
Leave a long tail (about 6–8 inches) for sewing.

This will be used to attach the nose securely to Snuffle’s face.

Assembly (Part 6 of 7)

ASSEMBLY

Now that you’ve completed all of Snuffle’s parts, it’s time to assemble him! You should have:

💪 1 Body
💪 2 Ears
💪 2 Feet
💪 1 Tail
💪 1 Nose

Follow these steps to put Snuffle together:

Attach the Feet
Position the feet at the bottom of Snuffle’s body, slightly toward the front.

Using the long tails from the feet, thread your yarn needle and sew each foot securely to the body.

Knot the yarn and weave in the ends to hide them inside the body.

Attach the Ears
Place the ears on either side of Snuffle’s head, slightly above and toward the back for a floppy, piggy look.

Use the long tails from the ears to sew them securely to the head.

Adjust their positioning before tying off and weaving in the ends to ensure they are symmetrical.

Attach the Nose
Center the nose on Snuffle’s face, just above the middle of the body.

Using the long tail from the nose, sew it securely to the head, ensuring it is well-positioned and flat against the surface.

Adjust the nostrils if needed to make them appear balanced.

Attach the Tail
Sew the tail to the lower back of Snuffle’s body, positioning it in the center.

Use the long tail from the curly piece to securely fasten the tail in place.

Fluff and adjust the curl for an extra playful look.

Final Check
Ensure all parts are securely attached and adjust any positioning as needed.
Make sure Snuffle’s feet are aligned for stability, his ears are symmetrical, and his tail has just the right amount of curl.

Adding the Hairs (Part 7 of 7)

ADDING HAIRS

Prepare the Strands

Cut 3–4 strands of yarn, each about 3–4 inches long.

Fold each strand in half to create a loop at one end.

Attach the Hairs
Locate the spot on Snuffle’s head between the ears.
Using your crochet hook, insert it through a stitch in this area.

Pull the folded end of a yarn strand through the stitch to create a small loop.
Pull the loose ends of the yarn through the loop and gently tighten to secure the strand to Snuffle’s head.

Repeat for All Strands
Continue attaching the remaining strands of yarn in the same way, placing them close together for a fuller look.

Style the Hairs
Once all the strands are attached, fluff them up or trim them evenly for a neat, playful look.

You can leave the hairs standing up or lying flat—however you think Snuffle looks best!
